CHTN Eastern

University of Pennsylvania
Perelman School of Medicine

Application & Process

No. The CHTN does not perform clinical tests on tissue (e.g., for hepatitis or HIV). While we attempt to avoid providing contaminated tissues, all specimens must be handled as if potentially infectious. Recipients must also agree not to perform such tests on the tissues supplied.
Investigators cannot specify a custom percentage, but the CHTN guarantees at least 10% tumor in a tumor specimen. Macrodissection is available for an additional charge if enrichment is required for your protocol.

Investigator Responsibilities

Yes. Because the CHTN is a prospective procurement program, resources are allocated specifically to fill your request. Investigators are responsible for all fees associated with biospecimens procured for them until the request is officially inactivated.
Investigators agree to acknowledge the CHTN in all resulting publications. We suggest: "Tissue samples were provided by the NCI Cooperative Human Tissue Network (CHTN)." You may also cite the Eastern Division RRID: SC_022407.
